401 Pounamu

Pounamu is a feminine, sibling attar of the recent Peridot II. It features a similar green ethereal profile, with added nuances of Jasmine grandiflorum, Civet, Ylang Ylang, Osmanthus and White Champaca.

Smelling from the applicator, Pounamu has an uplifting, green, spring-like aroma with complex white floral notes layered over a mossy bed of ruh khus.

There are contrasting and complementary notes present in Pounamu, but they work in a wonderful balance. White florals are usually hard to tame, but the ruh khus and civet seem to give enough head-space for the white champaca and osmanthus to breathe, so they can show all of their beauty.

There is also an aquatic quality to Pounamu, although not as prominent as it's floral forest elements. This aquatic quality comes from olive absolute and ambergris.

Smelling on the skin, Pounamu really shines with a radiant complexity. The notes go from uplifting, ethereal green, to complex, mossy, woody, florals. The civet really assists this blend in ways that I did not expect. It has no real animalic quality, the civet adds depth and complexity to everything. It enhances the white flowers, creates head-space in the ruh khus, and brings a beautiful radiance to the Sa Kaeo agarwood in the base, which shines through even after just 5 minutes of wearing. There is a lovely and unusual Haramy copal in the base of this attar too, which adds a lot of character to the blend yet stays as a subtle background note.
