Patchouli Oud III is the latest iteration of my Patchouli Oud series, this is a deep floral version with a solid woody core and resinous, fruity base.

I kept this simple in it's formula, with just 16 materials used and one accord.

I feel like I have learned something recently, how to make attars more striking in their simplicity.

It has taken me a long time to learn this, I have a habit of jumping into complexity, and bypassing the basic, then with time I come back to the basic and learn to do it better.

It is all about balance, and it feels like it is something that has to be learned experientially, like an artist that eventually grasps the ability to draw expressions and postures and makes it look easy, or a chef that grasps the ability to balance flavours and cooking time of each ingredient to get the best result.

After making a few expensive attars, I wanted to try make this less costly too. This has also been a goal of mine, to be able to make more affordable natural perfumes, and also not compromise on their quality or vibrancy. I am happy to say I feel I have achieved this with Patchouli Oud III.

Smelling from the applicator, Patchouli Oud III opens with a lush, deep woody floral fruity scent. Everything comes together in the opening notes, it is resinous, fruity, woody and floral with a hint of muskiness. The Red Champaca fits beautifully atop the aged Patchouli giving it a decadent quality, and the Ambreine in the base supports the Patchouli too, allowing it's notes to sustain longer, and infusing it with more fruity resinous elements.

Wearing on the skin, Patchouli Oud III bursts into life with deep floral notes of Red Champaca, and fruity Patchouli. It's woody notes merge with the fruity floral elements and resinous notes of Ambreine in the base, making it smell like a woody red wine

It transitions into a beautifully vibrant, creamy floral with time with the resinous notes subsiding into the floral fruity notes, and the woody elements remaining as a backbone.
