441 Haru No Yuki
Haru No Yuki is a cool, cologne-like, floral attar, with a bight and creamy feel.
It is a scent that brings a refreshing breeze into the midst of Springtime.
Haru No Yuki means “snow in spring”. I found a small flower blooming in my garden in with this name, and it rolled around in my mind, percolating into the vision of s scent that represents snow falling during Springtime.
This is a sister attar to Yei Lai Xiang with it's clean linen-like, white floral character.
I used a cologne base with lavender, bitter orange, yuzu, bergamot, clary sage and rosemary. This has a very classic, cool cologne profile. I built upon this with light, creamy, florals of lilac, osmanthus, henna, white champaca and jasmine.
For contrast and depth, I used cypress absolute and essential oil, as well as Guangdong Chinese oud and Sylhet oud, to bring in a fruity, woody backbone, that is subtle enough to allow the florals and cologne to shine.
This is a very complex attar that has a very approachable profile, no aggressive or sharp elements here. This is an uplifting, citrus infused cologne, with layered florals and ambergris.
Smelling from the applicator, Haru No Yuki has a bright, clean, creamy floral scent, with undertones of citrus, fruity woods and fluffy ambergris.
There is a delicate sweetness present, that couples with a powdery fluffy note of musk.
My previous 2 releases: Eucabid V and Baitylos have quite a compact and minimal feel.
Haru No Yuki has a much more diverse range of aroma, it feels expansive, yet very approachable.
I find working outside of my usual style brings really interesting combinations into play.
There are many unusual contrasting detail elements in Haru No Yuki that make it feel very dynamic. Subnotes of marigold and slow distilled tuberose, Sylhet oud and massoia bark, breuzinho and cape snowbush all add subtle twists to the profile.
Smelling on the skin, Haru No Yuki opens with a bright, inviting cool citrus-floral aroma. Neroli, white champaca and osmanthus lifted on fluffly clouds of ambergris, cooled by the soft scented winds. This is a dreamy scent, but not in a sedating way, it feels very peaceful and idilic.
As the scent passes 10 minutes, deeper, fruitier notes emerge, a subtle combination of jasmine auriculatum and cypress absolutes create a radiant layer for the florals to dance upon.
I get a clean blue feel that runs through the other coloured notes in this blend, again the cypress plays a role, alongside mint absolute, lavender and aged bay laurel essential oil. These bring in the cooling elements.
