Description
422 Maithuna
Maithuna is an evolution of a previous attar called Anima. This blend began as Anima II, but I forgot about it for a whole year and it matured into something much more vibrant and multifaceted.
Maithuna is related to the union of the male anima and female animus in alchemy. I felt this was an appropriate name for something so polar yet harmonious.
This is a floral musk, heavy emphasis on the musk part. It contains Kashmiri and Nepalese deer musk, hyraceum, civet, ambergris and castoreum.
The floral elements are mainly jasmine and osmanthus with support of white lotus, saffron, tuberose and orange leaf.
Smelling from the applicator Maithuna has a juicy warm opening of Egyptian jasmine with sparkling notes of osmanthus, which hover over a deep abyss of resinous musks and agarwood.
This is a paradoxical scent, bright yet heavy, juicy yet arid, approachable yet wild. I often find myself filled with paradoxes, but reaching a balance between these extremes is where real beauty lays.
