431 Milk Musk

Milk Musk is a remake of an old accord I made around 8 years ago. I found this old blend before beginning work on Milk Musk, and it was what inspired me to make this into a fully fledged perfume.

When musks are left for years, they really evolve and enhance in their profile, especially when combining different musks together, or with a few simple materials.

In the original Milk Musk, I left Civet with Massoia Bark EO, Laka Wood Eo, Liatrix Absolute and a touch of Bangladeshi Oud. It turned into such a stunning creamy musk.

Milk Musk has a rich, delicately sweet, milky, musky aroma. Many of the materials used in Milk Musk have lactonic, creamy elements, which make for a very interesting and unique scent.

Smelling from the applicator, Milk Musk has a creamy, rich, gourmand scent, akin to condensed milk, with a buttery smooth, woody character.

This is like an enhanced Mysore Sandalwood, with accentuated milky qualities and Agarwood to match the theme.

While VVusk focused on accentuating the gourmand, sweet, bready notes of Mysore Sandalwood, Milk Musk focuses on enhancing the creamy, milky aspects.

I used a stunning 1996 Mysore Sandalwood EO in this blend, from Moustafa at Yaaseen, as well as a beautiful, delicately earthy Manipur Oud.

Aged Civet was also added to this blend, which has lost it's aggressive fresh qualities, and imparts a soft, layered, creamy, musky note.

Beeswax also plays an important part in this attar, adding heavier, complex, creamy notes that help act as a foundation to the base.

Smelling on the skin, Milk Musk opens with a creamy, rich, milky scent. The Manipur Oud is perceptible in the opening, but layered with milky elements that make it feel so dreamy.

There are layers to this scent, and it feels transparent and simple enough to perceive them all.

It has a sweet, buttery, Mysore and Oakwood top note, infused with Venezuelan Tonk Bean, Papuan Vanilla and Laka Wood. A creamy, musky heart note of Civet, Mongolian Deer Musk, Coconut and Massoia Bark, and a soft earthy base of Manipur Oud, Orniflia Myrrh and Sylhet Oud.
