Black Sacra Infusion - Omani Black Boswellia Sacra Frankincense
Frankincense Resin Infused Oil
A slightly unusual addition to the allthatsscents range of oils. As opposed to an attar, this is an oil fusion containing Omani Black Sacra (Boswellia Sacra) frankincense resin extract in fractionated coconut oil.
Black Sacra resin is known for its rich arrangement of facets - juicy orange and lemon candied nuances, pine drops, pine woods and eucalyptus, all forming an ethereal resinous and spiced frankincense.
As for usage, this infusion has a multitude of uses and applications. In addition to being applied topically, the oil can be used in natural perfumery to introducing in skin serums or as an enhanced carrier oil in aromatherapy. Amongst popular choices has been using the blend as beard oil.
allthatsscents are excited to be presenting this as an exclusive batch prepared by US based indie perfumer and incense specialist.
What is Frankincense resin extract?
It is the extraction of ALL chemical compounds present in the resin into an oil base. Fractionated Coconut Oil is used for its extended shelf life.
Resin used in this infusion is the exudate naturally occurring in several trees from the Boswellia family, found in the territory extending from India, Africa and Middle East. It has a long history of use, from Ayurveda to Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Frankincense consists of three main components: the essential oil, the oleoresin, and the gum which is the component that causes the resin to be hard. Many are familiar with Frankincense essential oil, which is only a part of the powerful compounds present in the resin, the very light molecules, light enough to travel in the steam during hydro-distillation process. Some very significant components that are not present in the essential oil but can be found in this infusion are: Boswellic Acid, Incensole, Incensole Acetate and Epilupeol - chemicals that through various studies have been known to be anti inflammatory, anti depressant, analgesic and more.
Resin extraction method followed
The resin extract is obtained by powdering the resin and placing it in oil in a double boiler, where it gently melts for several hours. The gum (which is not oil soluble) is filtered out. No chemicals are involved in the process of obtaining the resin extract and creating the infused oil. A very high ratio of resin to oil has been used, resulting in a highly aromatic oil, with a scent true to the resin from which it is extracted.
